5:30 PM - 7:15 PM    Pickleball Mixed Doubles 3.0-3.5 Ladder League - Mixed Doubles
This is mixed doubles TEAM round robin league for 3.0-3.5 rated players. Both team members must be within the 3.0-3.5 skill rating. Teams will play six games each week in a round robin format against different teams each game.  Game schedules will be published the morning of game play.  Each week teams will be ranked according to games won and points scored.  The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week.  Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game won versus played and secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus possible.  Teams must compete in at least 50% of total games to metal. Teams are allowed a max of two substitutions over the course of the league.  Maximum Players: 14 Players or 7 Teams.  Please register both team members individually and note your partner’s name on the registration page.   Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. For questions regarding the 3.0-3.5 player skill levels, please refer to the document below or contact the League Director for clarification.

Step 1 classes are 25 minutes long. Instructors use fun, games, props and more to provide age appropriate fun and help skaters acclimate to the ice in a comfortable and safe atmosphere.

Northborough is working with the Special Olympics.  We are currently offering unified volleyball.  Unified is open to all people  with or without intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 8 - 15. We are looking for team mates who genuinely want to support each others growth as they develop social and athletic skills together. During registration, please indicate if your child is an Athlete –  player with intellectual disabilities or autism Unified Partner –  player without intellectual disabilities or autism (including siblings!) Assistant Coach – someone that would like to help me coach  Each season runs 6 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group.  There is no cost to participants, thanks to the long-standing generosity of the Fidrych Foundation.General Information This program is open to all kids including non residents After registering on-line, you must also complete the Athlete or Partner application forms (see below). Completed forms must be brought on the first day of program and given to the Coach. The Athlete and Partners application forms are valid for 3 years or until the volunteer turns 18. Questions? Beginner 1:Players new or nearly new to the game of pickleball.  The class will center on basic technical aspects of successfully playing the game of pickleball.  In addition to rules of play, focus will include techniques for effective forehand shots, backhand shots, dinks, drops, serves, and return of serves.  The class will also cover the more tactical skills of court positioning, transitions to non-volley zone, and non-volley zone play.  The goal of the class is to give players the skills needed to reach the 2.5-player level. Beginner 2:Players who have completed a Beginner 1 pickleball course or have equivalent skills.  The class will center on both the technical and tactical skills needed to advance from a 2.5 to a 3.0 player.  Focus includes hitting medium-paced serves and volleys with direction and consistency; learning and using drop shots to reset gameplay and open shot opportunities; court positioning in different scenarios; understanding how to identify your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses to maximize point opportunities; and how to compete in a pickleball tournament.Intermediate:This class level is for the player who already has a basic understanding of the game and is trying to get to the next level. The focus will be on more effectively using challenging shots like the drop shot, increasing control of your shot placement, running set plays and scenarios, as well as developing more power in shots. Geared towards those who are solid 2.75 or 3.0 players and want to play more competitively and/or play in tournaments. 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM    Safe SitterĀ® Babysitting Class - Safe SitterĀ® Class April 8
Safe Sitter® babysitting classes have been preparing young teens to care for younger children for over 40 years. The program follows guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association.  Students will learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. They will learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering and baby care. Learn skills such as choking rescue and learning a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students will receive a certification of completion of the class.

Assistant Coach – someone that would like to help me coach  Each season runs 6 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group.  There is no cost to participants, thanks to the long-standing generosity of the Fidrych Foundation.General Information This program is open to all kids including non residents After registering on-line, you must also complete the Athlete or Partner application forms (see below). Completed forms must be brought on the first day of program and given to the Coach. The Athlete and Partners application forms are valid for 3 years or until the volunteer turns 18. Questions? This league is for female players rated 3.0 - 3.5.  This is an individual round-robin league. Players will play six games each week in a round-robin format with different partners and against different opponents in each game.  Game schedules will be published on the morning of gameplay.  Each week, players will be individually ranked according to games won and points scored.  The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week.  Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game wins versus games played and, secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus points possible.  Participants must compete in at least 50% of the games possible to medal. Maximum Players: 14  Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. Beginner 1:Players new or nearly new to the game of pickleball.  The class will center on basic technical aspects of successfully playing the game of pickleball.  In addition to rules of play, focus will include techniques for effective forehand shots, backhand shots, dinks, drops, serves, and return of serves.  The class will also cover the more tactical skills of court positioning, transitions to non-volley zone, and non-volley zone play.  The goal of the class is to give players the skills needed to reach the 2.5-player level. Beginner 2:Players who have completed a Beginner 1 pickleball course or have equivalent skills.  The class will center on both the technical and tactical skills needed to advance from a 2.5 to a 3.0 player.  Focus includes hitting medium-paced serves and volleys with direction and consistency; learning and using drop shots to reset gameplay and open shot opportunities; court positioning in different scenarios; understanding how to identify your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses to maximize point opportunities; and how to compete in a pickleball tournament.Intermediate:This class level is for the player who already has a basic understanding of the game and is trying to get to the next level. This is mixed doubles TEAM round robin league for 3.0-3.5 rated players. Both team members must be within the 3.0-3.5 skill rating. Teams will play six games each week in a round robin format against different teams each game.  Game schedules will be published the morning of game play.  Each week teams will be ranked according to games won and points scored.  The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week.  Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game won versus played and secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus possible.  Teams must compete in at least 50% of total games to metal. Teams are allowed a max of two substitutions over the course of the league.  Maximum Players: 14 Players or 7 Teams.  Please register both team members individually and note your partner’s name on the registration page.   Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. Beginner 1:Players new or nearly new to the game of pickleball.  The class will center on basic technical aspects of successfully playing the game of pickleball.  In addition to rules of play, focus will include techniques for effective forehand shots, backhand shots, dinks, drops, serves, and return of serves.  The class will also cover the more tactical skills of court positioning, transitions to non-volley zone, and non-volley zone play.  The goal of the class is to give players the skills needed to reach the 2.5-player level. Beginner 2:Players who have completed a Beginner 1 pickleball course or have equivalent skills.  The class will center on both the technical and tactical skills needed to advance from a 2.5 to a 3.0 player.  Focus includes hitting medium-paced serves and volleys with direction and consistency; learning and using drop shots to reset gameplay and open shot opportunities; court positioning in different scenarios; understanding how to identify your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses to maximize point opportunities; and how to compete in a pickleball tournament.Intermediate:This class level is for the player who already has a basic understanding of the game and is trying to get to the next level. The focus will be on more effectively using challenging shots like the drop shot, increasing control of your shot placement, running set plays and scenarios, as well as developing more power in shots. Geared towards those who are solid 2.75 or 3.0 players and want to play more competitively and/or play in tournaments. 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM    Women's Slow Pitch Softball - Softball Spring League
Join Northborough Recreation as we take part in recreational league play. This league is not super competitive, but you must have some playing experience if you sign up. Teams/participants from other towns are welcome to sign up through our site if your town is not in the league. You will register yourself. Once you do, please email me a list of women you would like to play on your team, and I will put the teams together. This is a first come, first serve registration.  League Details: Games are on Sundays, April 27 – June 8 (skip May 25) June 15th will be a makeup. Teams will play one game per week at either 4:30pm or 6pm in Hudson, Northboro, and Westboro. Southboro field may be used in case of scheduling conflicts at primary fields. Teams will consist of 13 players. 10 players on the field. Everyone bats. Players will be responsible for bringing their own gloves. Batting helmets are not required. The league will provide game balls, an umpire, team t-shirts, at least one team bat, and a face mask to be worn by the pitcher (not required). Additional gameplay rules will be provided prior to the start of the season.

Tinkergarten Nature Babies: This spring, join us for a new Tinkergarten class developed just for the littlest explorers and their caregivers!  Each week we will meet outside to play, learn, explore, connect with nature and build new friendships.  This class is a wonderful opportunity to support your baby's learning and development while connecting with other local parents and caregivers.  Our Tinkergarten Nature Babies program is designed specifically for babies ages 6-18 months, and will include songs and music, stories, movement and sensory play!   The Tinkergarten Nature Babies program is led by Jenna Kyes, a longtime educator and mom of four.  Jenna has years of experience teaching Tinkergarten, and she loves sharing the joy and wonder of playful outdoor learning with children and their caregivers.

What is Tinkergarten? Designed and led by experts, loved by parents and kids, Tinkergarten gets kids ages 1 1/2 to 6 learning outside. Children who participate in the Tinkergarten program get the physical and mental benefits of increased time outdoors and build a lasting connection to nature. Our classes include songs, movement, stories, and irresistible invitations for open-ended play!   The Tinkergarten Nature Play program is led by Jenna Kyes, a longtime educator and mom of four.  Jenna has years of experience teaching Tinkergarten, and she loves sharing the joy and wonder of playful outdoor learning with children and their caregivers.

Great program for golfers of all abilities from ages 7-14. Instructors work with students individually within the group. Five 1 hour classes encourage gradual improvement over 5 weeks. Each class meets once a week for 5 consecutive weeks.
