1.5 Hour Skills Specific Clinics taught by Suzanne Cox
These clinics are for specific-level players looking to advance a particular skill set. If you are not at least the level listed, please sign up for one of the pickleball lessons first.
Serves, Returns, & Ground Strokes (forehand and backhand)
Determine which is the best serve for you and develop consistent, powerful, and accurate serves and returns. Master the ability the hit strong, well-paced groundstrokes while controlling depth, direction, and most importantly, height to avoid pop-ups. Please note these clinics are for players who know how to play. The one-day clinics are to help improve certain skills.
Volleys
Learn effective volleys to control the net, dictate pace, and create offensive opportunities. From soft blocks to aggressive drives near the kitchen line, strong volley skills enable players to force errors and gain advantage over your opponents as most points are won at the net. Please note these clinics are for players who know how to play. The one-day clinics are to help improve certain skills.
Lobs & Put Aways
Learn to put away high balls with power and accuracy and how to effectively lob both defensively and offensively. Learn how to effectively defend against lobs, both individually and in tandem with your partner including how to move up and back with lobs. Additionally, learn how to return a lob without setting up an ‘attack’ on your team. Please note these clinics are for players who know how to play. Drop Shots, Resets & Dinks
Learn to use soft shots, drops, and resets to control the rally and create scoring opportunities. Additionally, learn aggressive cross count ‘dinks’ to drive opponents out of position and force player errors. Play like the pros at the non-volley zone. Please note these clinics are for players who know how to play. The one-day clinics are to help improve certain skills.
Advanced Techniques
Key areas of focus include
- Controlling the pace of play with resets (defense) and speedups & attacks (offense),
- Reading your opponent’s patterns, identifying and/or creating gaps and maximizing scoring opportunities.
- Understand effective partner movement including covering the middle and respecting the ‘X’. Please note these clinics are for players who know how to play. The one-day clinics are to help improve certain skills.
About The Instructor
Suzanne Cox is a PPR certified pickleball coach who teaches beginner to advanced intermediate players. Suzanne is a USA Pickleball Ambassador and co-organizes the annual Jacob Rogers Memorial Pickleball Tournament for youth mental health as well as consults for other charity tournaments in the area.
