You have found the Town of Northborough Recreation Department. This website is the communication center of the department. We try to keep it up to date with information about what we do. If you are new to our site, please create a household account.
Payments
Please note that you must pay in full at the time of registration to hold your spot. You can pay by credit card, check, or cash. Please make all checks out to the Town of Northborough.
Refunds and Withdrawals
Refunds are only issued when a class is canceled by the Recreation Dept. No other refunds will be given. Classes are non-transferable. The deadline to withdraw from a class is no later than 5 business days before the start of a class. Those withdrawing will receive a credit toward another recreation program with a $10 cancellation fee. All refunds are paid with a check from the Town. Please allow 10-14 business days.
Wait Lists
If you are added to a wait list and an opening becomes available, we will automatically send an email to the first person on the list. If you receive a wait list email, you will have 24 hours to respond and register for the program. After 24 hours, the next person on the wait list will be notified. and we will move down the list until the spot has been filled.
Weather Related cancellations
No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather. One make-up date may be offered as scheduling allows but is not guaranteed.
Email and Text Blasts
Program delays or cancellations due to weather will be communicated through e-mail and text message. We will use the email address provided in your household account at www.northboroughrecreation.com. To opt in to receive text updates, please go to your household account and click on notifications to add a mobile number.
Missed Programs DaysWe cannot refund fees for missed program days, as your payment is based on enrollment, not attendance. We will not offer a refund for missed days due to vacation, calendar conflicts or personal choice. Please note that non-disclosure of medical, academic, psychological, or behavioral challenges that result in withdrawal or removal from the program cannot be refunded.
Prorating
We are unable to register children for partial weeks of programs. When you sign up for a class, please select one where you anticipate attending the full week or session, when possible.
Options for Registering
Walk-in: Visit our office to pay in cash, by check, or by credit card.
Mail-in: Download a registration form from our website and mail with payment payable to the Town of Northborough.
Online: Visit www.northboroughrecreation.com to register with a credit card.
Photo Release
Photographs and videos that represent our programs help share what we do with new participants and families. At checkout, we ask you to agree to the Policies/Terms and Waivers. If you are uncomfortable with Northborough Recreation using your child's image, please email the Director at: recreation@town.northborough.ma.us
Inclusion Support & Reasonable Modification Services
The Northborough Recreation Department is committed to providing inclusive recreation opportunities for participants of all abilities. Reasonable modifications and inclusion supports may be available to help individuals successfully participate in recreation programs, camps, events, and activities.
Requesting Inclusion Support
Participants requiring inclusion support or reasonable modifications must first complete program registration before submitting an Inclusion Support Request Form.
To allow sufficient time for planning, assessment, and staff coordination, requests for inclusion support must be submitted at least 15 business days prior to the start of the program or activity. Requests received with less notice will be reviewed; however, the Recreation Department cannot guarantee that accommodations or support services will be available by the program start date.
Our Inclusion Model
Northborough Recreation uses a group inclusion model, with support strategies designed to promote participation, engagement, and independence within the program. One-to-one support is not routinely provided and may be considered only on a case-by-case basis after an assessment of the participant's needs and available staffing resources.
What Inclusion Support May Include
Inclusion support looks different for every participant and is based on individual needs, program requirements, and available resources. Following review of the Inclusion Support Request Form, Recreation staff may work with families to identify appropriate support strategies, which may include:
- Program or activity previews prior to participation
- Visual schedules, social stories, or other support tools
- Activity modifications or alternative participation methods
- Staff training and consultation regarding participant needs
- Environmental or sensory accommodations when feasible
- Adjustments to communication methods or instructional approaches
- Additional staffing support when appropriate and available
Assessment Process
The Recreation Department may contact parents/guardians to gather additional information regarding the participant's strengths, interests, support needs, behavioral considerations, communication methods, and strategies for success. This collaborative process helps ensure that reasonable modifications can be explored and implemented whenever possible. While every effort will be made to support participation, the Recreation Department cannot guarantee that all requested accommodations can be provided. Determinations will be made based on participant needs, program structure, safety considerations, and available resources.
Our goal is to provide meaningful recreation experiences that foster inclusion, participation, and success for all community members.
