Pickleball Women's 3.0-3.5 Ladder League - Women's Ladder League This league is for female players rated 3.0 - 3.5. This is an individual round-robin league. Players will play six games each week in a round-robin format with different partners and against different opponents in each game. Game schedules will be published on the morning of gameplay. Each week, players will be individually ranked according to games won and points scored. The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week. Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game wins versus games played and, secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus points possible. Participants must compete in at least 50% of the games possible to medal. Maximum Players: 14 Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. The class will center on basic technical aspects of successfully playing the game of pickleball. In addition to rules of play, focus will include techniques for effective forehand shots, backhand shots, dinks, drops, serves, and return of serves. The class will also cover the more tactical skills of court positioning, transitions to non-volley zone, and non-volley zone play. The goal of the class is to give players the skills needed to reach the 2.5-player level. Beginner 2:Players who have completed a Beginner 1 pickleball course or have equivalent skills. The class will center on both the technical and tactical skills needed to advance from a 2.5 to a 3.0 player. Pickleball Lessons with Suzanne Cox - Pickleball Intermediate Sundays - 12:45pm Beginner 1:Players new or nearly new to the game of pickleball. The class will center on basic technical aspects of successfully playing the game of pickleball. In addition to rules of play, focus will include techniques for effective forehand shots, backhand shots, dinks, drops, serves, and return of serves. The class will also cover the more tactical skills of court positioning, transitions to non-volley zone, and non-volley zone play. The goal of the class is to give players the skills needed to reach the 2.5-player level. Beginner 2:Players who have completed a Beginner 1 pickleball course or have equivalent skills. The class will center on both the technical and tactical skills needed to advance from a 2.5 to a 3.0 player. Focus includes hitting medium-paced serves and volleys with direction and consistency; learning and using drop shots to reset gameplay and open shot opportunities; court positioning in different scenarios; understanding how to identify your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses to maximize point opportunities; and how to compete in a pickleball tournament.Intermediate:This class level is for the player who already has a basic understanding of the game and is trying to get to the next level. The focus will be on more effectively using challenging shots like the drop shot, increasing control of your shot placement, running set plays and scenarios, as well as developing more power in shots. Geared towards those who are solid 2.75 or 3.0 players and want to play more competitively and/or play in tournaments. Tournament play will be covered in this session.March 30 and 31st were canceled due to rain.

Tinkergarten Nature Babies - Spring Tinkergarten Babies Tinkergarten Nature Babies: This spring, join us for a new Tinkergarten class developed just for the littlest explorers and their caregivers! Each week we will meet outside to play, learn, explore, connect with nature and build new friendships. This class is a wonderful opportunity to support your baby's learning and development while connecting with other local parents and caregivers. Our Tinkergarten Nature Babies program is designed specifically for babies ages 6-18 months, and will include songs and music, stories, movement and sensory play! The Tinkergarten Nature Babies program is led by Jenna Kyes, a longtime educator and mom of four. Jenna has years of experience teaching Tinkergarten, and she loves sharing the joy and wonder of playful outdoor learning with children and their caregivers.

Pickleball Mixed Doubles 3.0-3.5 Ladder League - Mixed Doubles This is mixed doubles TEAM round robin league for 3.0-3.5 rated players. Both team members must be within the 3.0-3.5 skill rating. Teams will play six games each week in a round robin format against different teams each game. Game schedules will be published the morning of game play. Each week teams will be ranked according to games won and points scored. The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week. Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game won versus played and secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus possible. Teams must compete in at least 50% of total games to metal. Teams are allowed a max of two substitutions over the course of the league. Maximum Players: 14 Players or 7 Teams. Please register both team members individually and note your partner’s name on the registration page. Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. For questions regarding the 3.0-3.5 player skill levels, please refer to the document below or contact the League Director for clarification.
