Northborough is beginning a new journey with the Special Olympics.  We are currently offering unified basketball, volleyball and soccer. 

Unified is open to all people
 with or without intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 8 - 15. We are looking for team mates who genuinely want to support each others growth as they develop social and athletic skills together. 
During registration, please indicate if your child is an
  • Athlete –  player with intellectual disabilities or autism
  • Unified Partner –  player without intellectual disabilities or autism (including siblings!)
  • Assistant Coach – someone that would like to help me coach 
Each season runs 5 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group.  There is no cost to participants, thanks to the long-standing generosity of the Fidrych Foundation.

General Information
This program is open to all kids including non residents
After registering on-line, you must complete Special Olympics’ on-line Communicable Disease Waiver (see below)
After registering on-line, you must also complete the Athlete or Partner application forms (see below). Completed forms must be brought on the first day of program and given to the Coach. The Athlete and Partners application forms are valid for 3 years or until the volunteer turns 18.

Coach Rachel
Rachel Carron is a staff member at Special Olympics MA who enjoys playing every and all sports, but mostly basketball. She coached basketball for ages 7 through high school (including a Special Olympics basketball team in Lawrence) and loved playing club basketball at THE Ohio State University. Being from Connecticut, her favorite team growing up was UCONN Women’s, but has declared the Celtics to be her favorite Boston sports team.
