Yoga is an excellent way to prepare the mind, body and spirit for the many transitions of pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood. Much like other types of childbirth-preparation classes, prenatal yoga is a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages stretching, mental centering and focused breathing. Many obstetricians and midwifes state that prenatal yoga has huge benefits for pregnant women and their babies including improving sleep, reduce stress or anxiety, increase strength, flexibility and endurance muscles needed for childbirth. Other benefits include a decrease in lower back pain, nausea, headaches and shortness of breath. Prenatal Yoga is safe for any trimester, and perfect for any level of yoga experience from raw beginner onward. Each class will be led step by step through therapeutic postures and alignment that will help to stabilize one’s joints, connect to one’s breath, body and baby. Plus each person will find support, guidance, and inspiration to enjoy the journey to becoming a mom! Please consult your physician before beginning prenatal yoga practice.
