About the Monadnock Trek
Did you know that the 2nd most hiked mountain in the world sits in our own backyard??? Yup, it’s Mount Monadnock! (Do you know which mountain is first?) The appeal of Monadnock stems from its rocky, open summit that affords 360 views across three states, and its enigmatic history. I hear there’s a secret spy cave located somewhere on its eastern flank…

Our Trek will run from 10:30AM to 2:30PM, leaving from the Monadnock State Park Headquarters. All participants will receive instruction on map-reading, and hiking and backcountry etiquette. Depending on the group size and make-up, we’ll choose between several trail options for our ascent.

A summit lunch and reflection will highlight our day. Kids will have ample time to explore the summit, take in the views and learn more about the mountain. We’ll split into teams for the descent, with each using their map-reading skills and new found knowledge of the terrain to plan a route.

More About Instructor Geoff Maletta, Owner/Chief Adventurer
After spending close to 20 years focused on fixing healthcare, I have pivoted my focus to developing engaged youth leaders through hands-on, experiential teaching, coaching and mentoring.

I grew up spending much of my free time exploring the world around me, creating real and imaginary adventures, and building tight relationships with my close friends. I often felt that I was born several centuries too late, missing out on the "time of the explorers".

I founded Unplugged Adventures to catalyze a sea change for today's youth, to shift their focus from digital media to the dynamic world around them. Through fun, team-based outdoor adventures, we foster critical problem-solving, social and communication skills.

My passion for working with our younger generations extends across my life. I spend my time away from Unplugged Adventures working as a school teacher, coaching a youth club soccer team, and leading great adventures with my wife and daughters.
