This league is for male players 3.5 rated 3.25.  This is an individual round-robin league - no partner needed! Players will play six games each week in a round-robin format with different partners and against different opponents in each game.  Game schedules will be published on the morning of gameplay.  Each week, players will be individually ranked according to games won and points scored.  The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week.  Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game wins versus games played and, secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus points possible.  Participants must compete in at least 50% of the games possible to medal. Maximum Players: 15   Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. Summer 2 Hour Skills Specific Clinics taught by Suzanne Cox. Each 2 hour clinic will teach 2 different sets of skills.Descriptions: Serve and Return:Determine which is the best serve for your and to develop consistent, powerful, and accurate serves and returns including types of spin and open vs closed stances.Volleys:Learn quick reactions and precise paddle control at the non-volley zone and take points with punch volleys, roll volleys, and flicks.Lobs & Overhead Shots:Learn to put away high balls with power and accuracy and how to effectively lob both defensively and offensively.Dinks, Drop Shots, & NVZ Play:Learn to use soft shots, drops, and resets to control the rally and create scoring opportunities, play like the pros at the non-volley zone.League and Tournament Play:Learn effective partnering techniques including stacking, shifting, poaching, and court movement to play in leagues and tournaments and even open play.

9:15 AM - 11:00 AM    Pickleball Women's Double Intermediate League - 3.25-3.5 - Fall Women's Ladder League Sat
This league is for female players rated 3.25 - 3.5.  This is an individual round-robin league - no partner needed! Players will play six games each week in a round-robin format with different partners and against different opponents in each game.  Game schedules will be published on the morning of gameplay.  Each week, players will be individually ranked according to games won and points scored.  The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung while having fun playing each week.  Gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded at the end of the league based on the highest percentage of game wins versus games played and, secondarily, the highest percentage of points won versus points possible.  Participants must compete in at least 50% of the games possible to medal. Maximum Players: 14  Northborough Recreation reserves the right to move a player to a league with a more similar skill level to ensure league parity. 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM    Pickleball One Day Clinics - Sept 27: Lobs & Overhead Shots
Summer 2 Hour Skills Specific Clinics taught by Suzanne Cox. Each 2 hour clinic will teach 2 different sets of skills.Descriptions: Serve and Return:Determine which is the best serve for your and to develop consistent, powerful, and accurate serves and returns including types of spin and open vs closed stances.Volleys:Learn quick reactions and precise paddle control at the non-volley zone and take points with punch volleys, roll volleys, and flicks.Lobs & Overhead Shots:Learn to put away high balls with power and accuracy and how to effectively lob both defensively and offensively.Dinks, Drop Shots, & NVZ Play:Learn to use soft shots, drops, and resets to control the rally and create scoring opportunities, play like the pros at the non-volley zone.League and Tournament Play:Learn effective partnering techniques including stacking, shifting, poaching, and court movement to play in leagues and tournaments and even open play.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM    Pickleball Lessons with Suzanne Cox - Pickleball Intermediate Fall
Beginner 1:Players new or nearly new to the game of pickleball.  The class will center on basic technical aspects of successfully playing the game of pickleball.  In addition to rules of play, focus will include techniques for effective forehand shots, backhand shots, dinks, drops, serves, and return of serves.  The class will also cover the more tactical skills of court positioning, transitions to non-volley zone, and non-volley zone play.  The goal of the class is to give players the skills needed to reach the 2.5-player level. Advanced Beginner:Players who have completed a Beginner 1 pickleball course or have equivalent skills.  The class will center on both the technical and tactical skills needed to advance from a 2.5 to a 3.0 player.  Focus includes hitting medium-paced serves and volleys with direction and consistency; learning and using drop shots to reset gameplay and open shot opportunities; court positioning in different scenarios; understanding how to identify your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses to maximize point opportunities; and how to compete in a pickleball tournament.Intermediate:Intermediate class is designed for players with a solid understanding of the basics, looking to refine their skills and move towards advanced techniques. It focuses on improving consistency, developing more advanced strokes, and understanding game strategy. Advanced Intermediate:Advanced intermediate class is designed for experienced players seeking to refine their skills and strategic play. It focuses on advanced techniques, tactical decisions, and match play, often incorporating competitive drills and simulations. These classes emphasize the mental aspects of the game, including anticipation, court positioning, and adapting to various opponent styles.
